Police search for boy, 16, who went missing in lake at south London park

An urgent hunt is underway for a 16-year-old lad who has gone missing aft getting into trouble astatine a fashionable swimming spot. 

The teen disappeared successful the water successful Beckenham Place parkland successful Lewisham, southbound London, conscionable aft 3pm today.

The parkland has been closed and members of the nationalist evacuated owed to the 'serious' incident', Lewisham Council said. 

Specialist firefighters with oxygen tanks were spotted Beckenham Place parkland this afternoon.

Police said the 16-year-old's household has been informed and they are being supported by officers.  

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: 'Police were called astatine 15:08hrs connected Friday, 04 April to Beckenham Place park.

'A 16-year-old lad is believed to person got into trouble successful the h2o and is present missing.

'Emergency services are presently co-ordinating a search.
